Where does the time go?

I can't believe I haven't been blogging. Well, yes I can. Sometimes (apparently, for months on end) I just don't care to. Or I don't have time. For a while I had decided that there are two kinds of people in the world. Those who are blogging about life and those who are living it. I guess I was livin' it for the last 8 months.

After the sadness of having my original Xootr stolen out of my wagon, I decided that getting around campus on foot was no fun. I sprung for the new Xootr, with the new magnesium deck and a fender. Supposed to be lighter than the wood deck. I guess it is. I don't ride it much because on the first day of my new job my boss said it should be parked outside. No, it shouldn't but you can't disagree with your new boss on your first day.

I'm looking for a new mountain bike...

Menage a Quatre rocks 24 Hours!

Menage a Quatre won the 4 Person Women's Open category! Deb, Linden, Jen and Sue cranked out 19 laps in 24 hours and 34 minutes. Those Swiss Chix that came in second only managed 18 laps in 24 hours and 17 minutes!

Linden had the fastest day lap in the category in 1:06!

Check out all the results here.

Countdown to 24 Hours

Amy, Lizzie and I drove out to the 24 Hour site yesterday so I could check out the course and so Amy and Liz could hike and study. (However, apparently the hike took them so long Amy didn't have time to study.)

There was an adventure race going on and boy, is that something different! I told Amy that those folks use a whole different bit of equipment, etc. Teammates attached to each other on their bikes, strange backpacks, big plastic bags with maps.

Got in a great pre-ride despite the odd adventure racers everywhere. Let me tell you, that is a course for Sue B! Very fast and fun! The single track was twisty and buff, I think I saw maybe one or two rocks out there. Definitely a hard tail delight! We've had some rain so the track was practically paved. No dust, no sand, no mud, no rocks, perfect! I hope it's the same in two weeks. Should be a blast to ride at night, too.

Oh, I forgot, there were PLENTY of prickly plants! Some very close to the trail, some on the trail. Watch out for la cholla!
